The Office of the Bursar manages student accounts, assesses tuition and fees, provides monthly billing statements, and processes payments and refunds.
We also provide banking services for university departments.

Refunds for Spring 2020 Expenses
What is the university offering in the form of a refund?
The university will issue prorated refunds to students who paid for university-sponsored Student Housing, university-sponsored meal plans and parking fees during the Spring 2020 semester. Each eligible student will receive a prorated refund to their Bursar account. If the student has a current outstanding balance, the refund will be applied to that balance.
What amounts may not be refunded?
A student will not be issued a refund for portions of housing, meals or parking that were paid by institutional scholarship programs.
What is the effective date for calculating refunds?
Refunds will be prorated for the period from March 16 (the Monday after Spring Break) through May 10 (two days after the end of final exams). The amount refunded to each student will be calculated and processed individually.
How will refunds be paid?
Refunds will be paid using the method in which a student typically receives funds returned by the university.
Will the university extend the period for students to pay what they owe for the Spring 2020 semester?
The Bursar’s Office is working with students who have a financial hold on their account on a case-by-case basis. Any individual who has an outstanding balance is asked to contact the Bursar’s Office, email@example.com.
Will the university waive out-of-state tuition premium for Summer 2020 since those terms will be delivered online or through other alternative models?
There is no change in effect for non-resident tuition for current or future terms for non-resident tuition. Non-resident tuition is charged based on the residency status of the student, not based on where the student is located when receiving academic instruction. The university has always charged the non-resident fee for online courses.
Will refunds be issued for tuition and other fees?
Based on guidance by our governing board, the Board of Trustees of the Mississippi State Institutions of Higher Learning, the university will not provide refunds for tuition (both resident and non-resident), academic fees and activity fees as these are critical to support continuity of instruction, operations and related support. This includes course fees, Student Activity fee and the Capital Improvement fee.

- Phase 2 registration begins August 1 – August 23 ($50 nonrefundable registration fee)
- Phase 3 registration begins August 24 – September 4 ($100 registration fee)
